Simulation of streamer discharges as finitely conducting channels [comments and reply]

The recent paper by Gao et al. [see ibid., vol.6, p35-42, 1999] is most interesting and develops a useful model. Three comments will be made: on the model itself and the 'within-streamer' field used; on the interpretation; and on the streamer diameter.
