An Efficient Approximation Method for Delay-Rational Model of Multiconductor Transmission Lines

In this paper, a new algorithm for the generation of the approximate poles and residues of multiconductor transmission lines (TLs) characterized by frequency-dependent per-unit-length parameters is presented. By using the Green's function-based delay-rational model for lossy TLs, the proposed algorithm can calculate a reduced number of rational functions to enhance computational efficiency. Also, it can further improve the efficiency by performing the approximation of poles and residues instead of solving high-order equations. The preservation of passivity proof is developed. The frequency response and transient analysis results are presented and compared to those of the delay-rational model. The outcomes show that the proposed method can significantly improve the speed while preserving a similar accuracy.
