An Adaptive Cooperative Transmission Algorithm for Multi-stream in Heterogeneous Multipath Networks

In heterogeneous multipath networks, the actual throughput is far lower than the sum of the available bandwidth of each path in most these multipath transmission protocols. Motivated by that, an adaptive cooperative transmission algorithm based on bandwidth estimation is proposed in this paper. The algorithm named BD-DAST aims to monitor the actual throughput of each path periodically and segment adaptively the untransmitted data. After that, these data will be pre-allocated to the corresponding path for transmission. The algorithm can contribute to the adaptive adjustment of the data granularity and the expectation of network throughput increase. The experiments and evaluations prove that the BD-DAST algorithm can significantly improve the total throughput in the heterogeneous multipath networks.
