Design and Implementation of a Measurement and Management System for Operational and Supply Chain Performance

Operations excellence is an important factor for a firm's business success. Performance measurement and management systems (PMS) have turned out to be helpful tools to manage and steer a firm's operations. In contrast to a wide range of studies on the adequate design of sophisticated PMS, the implementation of such systems is hardly elaborated. This paper presents a case study on the development and implementation of a PMS at a globally operating manufacturing company. It gives recommendations for the adequate design and guidance for the successful implementation of a sophisticated PMS.
