An Insightful Derivation of Transmission Line Equations Including Electromagnetic Field-Coupling

On the basis of Pocklington integral equations, transmission line equations can be derived in a concise and straightforward way by introducing transmission line mode currents and antenna mode currents right from the beginning. In the derivation, the underlying assumptions of transmission line theory can clearly be recognized. This is of pedagogical value for EMC students and engineers that have to be aware of the limitations of transmission line theory.
