Investigation on Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse Coupling to Instrumented EIDs

Electrically initiated devices (EIDs) are primarily used in defense and aerospace systems for igniting the warhead, propulsion system, firing of thermal batteries and stage separation etc. These EIDs has potential threat from continuous wave electromagnetic fields, which is known as hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance (HERO). In this paper, nuclear electromagnetic pulse coupling to EIDs has been studied by computing the NEMP coupled induced current in the EIDs and their validation by measurements.
