Sensorless control of switched reluctance motor based on the logical relationship of three-phase inductance

The utilization of position sensor reduces the system reliability of switched reluctance motor (SRM), especially in harsh environments. It also increases the complexity of the system. In order to solve this problem, a new position sensorless control strategy is presented. The method is based on the logical relationship of three-phase inductance which varies regionally with the change of rotor position. The rotor position can be divided into several regions so that each region corresponds to a unique logical relationship, and the position pulse signals of each phase is obtained by recognizing the position regions. Based on the position pulse signals, the estimated rotor position can be calculated and then sensorless operation is achieved. This method is easy for implementation without additional hardware and complex calculation. The simulation and experimental results indicate that the proposed method can estimate rotor position accurately and have good practical value.
