Reliability Modeling and Simulation of Cyber-Physical Power Distribution System Considering the Impacts of Cyber Components and Transmission Quality

Cyber-Physical Power Distribution System (CPPDS), as one of the most critical part of smart grid, is vulnerable to cyber impacts. The urgent demand of analyzing cyber impacts of CPPDS is increasing. In this paper, we introduce an analytical method to quantify the impacts of cyber components and transmission quality on CPPDS operation reliability. Specifically, we present two models, namely static connection model and dynamic transmission model, to analyze the impacts of cyber system. The establishment of CPPDS operation is based on fault location, isolation and service restoration (FLISR). The implementation of this method and the effectiveness of cyber impacts are demonstrated by using an illustrative 6-bus power system. Additionally, system unavailability (SU), the reliability index we firstly propose for reliability assessment, taking the influence of cyber-physical coupling into consideration. Based on reliability indices and sensitivity analysis, we verify the rationality of the proposed model and provide reasonable analysis results of cyber impacts in this paper.
