Fault Diagnosis and Fault-Tolerant Control for Large-Scale Safety-Critical Facilities

Several hundreds of national large-scale safety-critical facilities have been built through heavy investments in countries around the world in recent years. During the operation of these safety-critical facilities, the Integrated Computer Control System (ICCS) is the nerve center to ensure their safe operation. The development of fault diagnosis technology is necessary to realize the safe and stable operation of the complex control system of the above safety-critical facilities. However, the existing fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant techniques are difficult to satisfy the design requirements for the ICCSs of safety-critical facilities. To make up for the disadvantages of the existing methods, an integrated design framework of fault diagnosis (FD) and fault tolerant control (FTC) have been presented. Accordingly, both the problems and solutions to closed-loop fault diagnosis, fault tolerant controller design and integration of monitoring and control have been given. Finally, to verify the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed solutions, a simulation platform and an experimental demonstration system for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control have been developed. The simulation platform is mainly used to tackle key academic problems and the experimental verification system is oriented to the automatic alignment scenario of the SG's laser beam for typical demonstration application.
