Corrosion of Cu/Ni/Au coating caused by F element

The corrosion of Cu/Ni/Au coating by F ion was first reported in this study. The salt spray test of Cu/Ni/Au coating was carried out under the coexistence conditions of F and Cl ions. The morphology and elements of corrosion products were analyzed by SEM and EDS. The results showed that F ion can cause pitting corrosion of Cu/Ni/Au coating. The corrosion of Cu/Ni/Au coating is faster under the coexistence of F and Cl ions than that of Cl ion alone.
