Robust Power Control of DFIG Based Wind Turbine without Currents Rotor Sensor

This paper presents a robust power control of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) used in wind energy conversion system without using any rotor current sensor. The proposed control combines the stator flux orientation control and H∞ loop shaping control based on normalized coprime factorization approach in order to control the active and reactive power exchanged between the stator and the electric power grid. The proposed schematic diagram has two loops. The inner loop regulates the stator currents in contrast with the classical vector control that controls the rotor currents. The outer loop regulates the stator active and reactive powers. The proposed strategy was tested through simulations and compared with classical vector control based PI controllers in terms of power reference tracking and robustness against machine parameters variations.
