Hard Carbons Prepared by Pyrolyzing Date's Pits for Sodium Ion Batteries

Currently, sodium-ion batteries have known a strong interest in both scientific and industrial sides in order to replace the lithium-ion batteries in the market. The graphite usually used for Li-ion batteries prove to be less efficient in the Na-ion ones. However, to be competitive with Li-ion batteries, the energy density, the electrochemical capacity and cycling performance (aging) of Na-ion batteries need to be improved, which means improving carbon's electrochemical performances. In this aim we focused on investigating and developing a facile synthesis process to prepare Hard Carbon from a Moroccan biomass as an anode material for Sodium-ion batteries. The hard carbon was prepared by the pyrolysis of date's pits in different temperatures, the synthesized samples exhibited good cycling performances and stability, delivering at least a good reversible capacity of 200 mAhg

for the sample annealed at 800° C.
