LVRT Control for Wind Farm Based on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator Connected into the Grid

This paper presents the development of Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) control strategy for wind farm based on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). The control aims to improve the quality of the injected power and satisfy the grid code requirements. These objectives are achieved using the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control, PQ control and fault control which is activated when a Low Voltage occurs in the grid. Results on a wind farm of five PMSG demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy and show that the developed controllers ensure an efficient stability of the wind energy conversion system (WECS), even under severe disturbances.
