Compact Inverted U Shaped Slot Triple Band MIMO Antenna for WLAN and WiMAX Applications

A very compact inverted U Shaped slot triple band multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna for WLAN and WiMAX application is presented in this paper. Three resonant bands are achieved by inverted U shaped slot monopole with a compact size of 10×26 mm². The MIMO system consists of two symmetrically placed monopoles. The wide band isolation is obtained with the help of a dual semicircular ground structure. The proposed antenna operates in the frequency range of 2.07-2.52 GHz(450 MHz), 4.28-4.50 GHz(220 MHz) and 5.67-7.27 GHz(1600 MHz) covering the bands of WLAN and WiMAX. It shows isolation of greater than −20dB for most of the bands. The proposed MIMO antenna has compact size of 30×40mm².
