Abstract:
One of the most important problems in power line communication (PLC) is the lack of having a universal, widely adopted channel model in the literature due to the intrinsic characteristics of live and high–tension physical lines. From this perspective, it is crucial to come up with an accurate and a comprehensive statistical model for PLC channels. Therefore, in this study, fundamental statistical characteristics of PLC channel are presented based on extensive field measurements. Both residential and industrial districts are investigated. Results of this study contributes to the literature in several ways. First, measurement campaign includes both residential and industrial regions simultaneously. Second, measurements are taken from both power distribution units and customer units. Third, channel attenuation measurements are collected in different regions and evaluated together. Results are given along with discussions and future directions.
