Application of BIM Technology in Airport Topographical Design

The application of BIM technology has been extens ive in developed countries, which is replacing the conventional me thodology in all aspects of design, construction and management. In China, The BIM is still in its infancy and has not been applie d in designing airport fields. This article will show not only the dif ference between two methodologies by analyzing principle of terr ain design but also a airport expansion project in which two tech nologies has been discussed and analysed. It is show that BIM, a t rend of technology, can deliver more intuitively 3D model althou gh the application of CAD in vertical design of airport by kongs c urved surface has meet the practical requirement in design by me ans of excellent algorithm and DTM as core mathematical mode I provided by PowerCivil.
