Numerical Model for the Detection of Single Particle in Two-Phase Lorentz Force Velocimetry

Lorentz force velocimetry (LFV) is a non-contact electromagnetic flow measurement technique to measure the flow rate of aggressive or high-temperature molten metal, such as steel or aluminum, and to give information about the local flow. In this paper, we present an extension of the LFV to detect solid particles in a conducting liquid metal based on the Lorentz force signals. The results are verified by magnetohydrodynamics volume element method using ANSYS FLUENT and validated by measurements.
