Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Using Center Dense and Center Sparse Double Cone Coil on Realistic Head model

Many neurological and psychiatric disorders treatment process can be benefitted by stimulation of deeper brain region through a process called TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation). By considering center dense and center sparse double cone coil this study shows the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) by doing numerical simulation. Conducting simulation procedure with realistic head model gives actual focality, penetration depth, and biocompatibility. But those issues cannot be accurate with homogeneous head model(some of them are layer based) used in some existing works. In our study we used realistic heterogeneous head model as well as considered the clinical applications to analyze the feasibility of two coils in TMS. Xfdtd software is used to get 3-D distribution of magnetic field and induced electric field employing impedance method in realistic head model. Between the two proposed coils center dense double cone coil has greater induced electric field, magnetic field, less spread and improved focality than center sparse double cone coil.
