Performance of I-Shaped EBG Structures Over Low Loss Angular Bend Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW)

Performance study of I-shaped periodic electromagnetic bandgap structures over Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW). The study has been performed over 90 degree bend SIW transmission line section in view of better integration ability within Microwave Integrated Circuits (MICs). Reflection loss arising due to waveguide bend is controlled by optimization of several useful parameters of end wall vias. Passband response including insertion loss and isolation is adjusted based on study of several EBG parameters produced in the parametric study section. The BPF operates within the microwave Ku-band with IL <; 1 db throughout the transmission passband with stopband isolation> 30 dB. All experiments are carried out over Neltec NH9320 material of thickness 0.8mm and dielectric constant of 3.2.
