Simulation and Analysis of Transmission Range Effect on AODV and OLSR Routing Protocols in Flying Ad Hoc Networks (FANETs) formed by Mini-UAVs with Different Node Density

Wireless technologies can be used in self-organizing networks of unmanned aerial vehicles (Flying Ad Hoc Networks, FANETs). It is concerned with the deployment of multiple small UAVs. AODV and OLSR routing protocols performance in ad hoc networks formed by mini UAVs is studied using NS-2 simulation tool. The protocols are investigated with varying metrics such as UAV density, node mobility, and transmission range. These parameters are proven to affect the evaluation and performance metrics considerably. The performance metrics under study are dropped packets and packet delivery ratio. These metrics have an obvious impact on the variation of transmission range and density.
