First Approach to Motion Compensation Considerations for Passive Radar System Based on GPS Signals

Among the wide spectrum of the technologies currently under research for fulfilling the detection needs modern societies have, passive radar are one of the most emerging and promising solutions due its specificities respect conventional ones. Passive radars based on space-borne illuminators characteristics are primary defined for the selected signal used. Global navigation systems, geosynchronous satellites or Earth Observation ones are the most promising systems. In this work a first approximation to the use of GPS constellation satellites for passive radar applications are carried out, considering the special considerations derived from the coherent processing in terms of motion compensation.
