Improvement in Characteristics of Linear Generators for Wave Energy Power Plants

This paper presents a novel topology of linear electrical generators with permanent magnets for a wave energy plant. A comparison of existing and proposed topologies is done. The analysis is based on the static 3-D magnetic field modelling and dynamic simulation using equivalent circuits. The results show that the proposed topology has higher power per mass of the magnetic system.
