Optimized Data-Pilot PRN Code Pairs for GPS L1C

To avoid the influence of pseudo-random noise (PRN) codes correlation on signal synchronization performance, we introduce a novel method to optimize the GPS Ll C signal code pairs. The distortion of the code phase discrimination curve (Le., S-Curve), caused by intra-channel PRN codes correlation properties, when only tracking the data or pilot components, is evaluated. The proposed PRN code pairs for the GPS L1C signal, based on the code set given by the L1C interface control document (ICD), are presented. The goal of the optimization process is to minimum the zero- crossing point bias of the code phase discrimination curve when the GPS L1C signal is tracked by using the pilot component for the given early-late spacing. The optimized PRN code pairs of the GPS L1C signal may obviously weakened the intra-channel interference, and can further improve the L1C signal synchronization performance.
