High Frequency Dielectric Property of Transmission Lines Ice

Icing transmission lines might cause a disaster to the power systems security and reliability. The deicing method using current skin effect at High frequency may be an effective measure for the transmission lines icing. The dielectric property of ice affects the ice temperature rise under alternating electric field. This paper focuses on the ice dielectric property under the different frequency current. The method of measuring dielectric constant is analyzed., a measuring dielectric constant method using the special LCR digital electric bridge and automatic anti-interference of dielectric loss instrument is proposed. By measuring the ice sample from different regional place and apparatus as insulator., and bus of the transmission lines from south China., the relevance between the transmission lines icing dielectric property and frequency is discovered. The experiment results show that the sample's dielectric constants rise in a certain extent compared with pure ice, and the dielectric loss enlarges at the range of lkH to 100kHz, and reaches the maximum value at about 10kHz. This study result is of important support for the principle of high frequency excitation melting ice to the transmission lines ice.
