Research on Interconnection and Interoperability Architecture for CNC Equipment

Communications among the various numerical control equipment are limited by manufacturer's private protocols that make each piece of equipment an Information Silo, which would bring great difficulties for users and third - party system integrator, and furthermore, will hinder the development of the intelligent manufacturing. Based on national standards of interconnection and interoperability on numerical control equipment (under revision), this paper makes a presentation of application strategy and architecture of the national standards. Additionally, the pivotal technologies of interconnection and interoperability on numerical control equipment such as information model for equipment and protocol mapping are studied to achieve uniform model between different protocols, which can achieve precisely definition on semantic level for numerical control equipment. Eventually, according to information model for numerical control equipment and practical application, two methods were designed to implement the standards, which are implementation scheme of adapter of external interface and adapter of internal interface.
