Analysis of Loss Reconfiguration for Distribution Network System

Nowadays, the electricity demand is increasing daily so it is important not only to extract electrical energy from all possible new power resources but also to reduce power losses to an acceptable minimum level in the existing distribution networks where a huge amount of power dissipation occurred. The feeder reconfiguration problem highly nonlinear with multi objective and multiple constraints. The feeder reconfiguration is chosen by the on/off status of the switches in a distribution network in order to meet one or more objective such as power loss or cost or voltage regulation. An iterative algorithm is proposed by using ETAP 12.6 software in this paper, which follows an ac optimal power flow problem. The proposed method is tested on radial distribution system in Naypyitaw City, Pyinmana Township, where long-length, overloaded lines and high level of power dissipation is occurred in this system. According to simulation results of load flow analysis, voltage profile enhancement and power loss reduction for proposed system are revealed in this paper. The simulation results show that the voltage regulation is power losses.
