High performance integrated spiral inductors based on a minimum AC difference voltage principle

We describe and demonstrate a new principle to improve the self-resonance frequency f/sub SR/ and the quality factor of integrated spiral inductors by minimizing the AC potential differences between neighboring turns. In this way, f/sub SR/ values can be increased for stacked spiral inductors up to a factor of two.
