Harmonic Analysis and Mitigation for Modern Home Appliances

Power electronic devices has improved efficiency of the home appliances. It has also incorporated energy saving at domestic level. In this paper, various home appliances are considered for harmonic analysis-voltage and current. LED(Light Emitting Diode),CPU(Central Processing Unit),EV(Electric Vehicle), laptop chargers, mobile chargers, electronic ballast, etc. are considered for harmonics analysis using Yokogawa WT-230 digital power meter. Based on this analysis, simulations of conventional rectifiers, high power factor converter and isolated resonant rectifier are done. FFT analysis of all simulations are presented with mitigation of harmonics topology.
