Study of the Transformer Rectifier Unit Compatible with the Concept of a More Electric Aircraft

The subject of the article is to conduct selected tests in the field of multi-pulse (6-, 12- and 18-, 24-) impulse rectifiers based on the TRU rectifier in terms of its cooperation with the onboard power source in the form of a generator. Simulation tests were performed on the created mathematical model and on the basis of the comparative analysis of analogical rectifiers implemented in modern aviation for this purpose. TRU systems are used, both in civil aviation (Airbus, Boeing), as well as in military aviation (Lockheed Martin), in terms of their hit civilian products A-380, A-350 XWB and B-787 and military JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) F-35 and F-22 Raptor. TRU rectifier system tests were carried out in the aspect of removing undesirable harmonics from the system and in terms of improving the efficiency of the on-board autonomous power system in the PES system. In the final part of the paper, based on the above considerations, conclusions were drawn, reflected in practical applications in relation to a more electric aircraft.
