Making Power over Fiber Supply of Microelectronic Sensor Devices Simpler

Power over Fiber (PoF) supply of microelectronic sensor devices has been receiving a growing interest in recent years, especially in case of wide-area-networked microsystems, appliances working in harsh environments or exposed to thunderstorm-related disturbances as well as in sensing equipment operated under high voltage bias conditions. The paper presents a laboratory approach to construct a simple PoF supply system using off-the-shelf components, capable of delivering power required for remote supply of microprocessor-controlled low-power microelectronic sensing apparatus.
