On the Issue of the Arc Steelmaking Furnaces Operating Mode Stability at the Beginning of Melting

The results of calculating the arc voltage gradient on the basis of the methods of the electric arc heat exchange model as a necessary factor for assessing the furnace electric regime stability are presented. The found dependence of the arc voltage gradient at low-power arc steelmaking furnaces on the furnace transformer secondary voltage reduction of rather nominal rate is important for ensuring stability of the furnaces operating model stability during an initial stage of melting.
