In vitro measurement of arterial compliance of porcine aortic tissue

Compliance is an important property of blood vessels. A limited number of studies have shown that quasistatic measurements of compliance do not accurately predict vessel behavior under dynamic conditions. The dynamic compliance was measured in three excised porcine aortas. Viscoelastic and non-linear elastic behavior are evident on different portions of the pressure pulse.
