Design and experiment of varactor tuned digital reconfigurable reflective metasurface unit

A new reconfigurable reflective metasurface unit cell tuned by varactors is proposed in this paper. The proposed unit cell constitutes of two layers, which is metasurface patch and ground plane respectively. The reflection of this unit cell can achieve in excess of 330° phase shift at 5GHz while bias voltage ranges within 0~5V. Meanwhile, experiment based on a waveguide is carried out for verifying the simulation model and correctness of the bias line. And the experiment results agree well with the simulation ones.
