High-gain substrate integrated cavity antenna for w-band applications

This study designs a high-gain substrate integrated cavity (SIC) antenna using high-order cavity mode based on multilayered low-temperature co-fired ceramic technology for W-band applications. High-order resonant mode (TM21) inside the cavity is excited by a longitudinal slot etched on the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The electric field of high-order mode in the cavity is redistributed by using two parasitic patches to achieve maximum radiation in normal direction of SIC. Simulation results show that maximum gain of this antenna is 9.66 dBi, and -10-dB relative impedance bandwidth reaches 20.7% (80.6-99.2 GHz).
