Design and implementation of a measurement system for characterization of reverberation chamber

This paper presents an automate measurement system for acquisition of electrical field used for estimation of reverberation chamber performance. The positioning system used to capture the field within predefined points is made to be a low-cost and short time consuming. The quality factor is used for evaluation of the quality of the reverberation chamber. A Matlab interface was built to provide the interoperability between the measurement and data processing. An almost flat stirrer is used to homogenize the electric field inside the chamber, which coupled on the motor shaft is controlled via computer/Arduino. The results show that the realized measurement system can handle a stirrer of 500 g weight with the deviation angle of 1.5^o. In addition, one can observe a better homogenization of the field using the quality factor metric when comparing measurements in continuous rotation and stepwise rotation.
