Temperature control for sub-10/sup -16/ fractional frequency stability

This paper examines the need for improved temperature control in present and future generations of frequency standards. We present a novel design for a cryogenic resistance bridge and show how a low frequency a.c. drive with a synchronous detector can provide /spl mu/K sensitivity with the possibility of at least two orders of magnitude further precision available.
