Modeling and delay compensation for on-line control system of fabric weight

In Chinese heat setting industry so far, most detection of fabric weight is achieved manually by workers, and the control of it is conducted almost by off-line methods, which leads to many problems, such as low product quality, and high material cost, etc. In order to solve these problems, we have proposed an effective scheme for on-line detecting the fabric weight in heat setting process in our previous work. In this paper, the relationship between the fabric weight and the relevant process parameters is analyzed, and an idea of mass-transfer is put forward for modeling the heat setting process of weight. Then a ratio-Smith predictive control system is designed to compensate the large delay existed in the process. Finally, simulation result is demonstrated to show the effect of the control design.
