Software arbitrary signal generator on the PXI platform for application in microwave medical diagnostic system development

This paper presents the design of the software arbitrary waveform generator for application in microwave-induced thermo-acoustic(MITAI) and radar based microwave diagnostic systems. The aim of the work is the development of generator capable of generating properly formed signals with the ability to adapt to specific patient tissue parameters. The proposed software generator is based on NI PXI platform and LabVIEW environment. Desired signal parameters have been specified based on own numerical simulations in MATLAB and literature data. The software generator has been tested with experimental PXI setup. The measured performance of the generated signals exhibits good properties and good agreement with the numerical simulation results.
