Characteristics and application of the oscillating impulse voltage on GIS in field

As the generator has advantages of high efficiency, small in size and convenience for waveform adjustment, oscillating impulse voltage has been widely used in field. The oscillating impulse voltage is generated through the RLC circuit, and all the front resistance, tail resistance, load capacitance and inductance have great influence on output waveform. By simulation the influence of inductance on output waveform is studied. Result shows inductance's decrease is helpful to improve the efficiency of generator. In field the oscillating lightning impulse voltage is used to conduct withstand voltage test on GIS, and the tested GIS is qualified up to standard. Besides, it is proved carrying oscillating impulse voltage out on high-capacity GIS is feasible.
