On-chip reconfigurable reflectarray for 2-D beam-steering at W-band

In this paper, a on-chip reconfigurable reflectarray (RRA) for 2-D beam-steering at W-band is designed, fabricated and tested. Beam steering can be realized by RRA, with the ability of shifting reflective phase by integrating tunable devices. In our work, the GaAs based chip process is used for a RRA integrated with p-i-n diode at W-band, to guarantee precision and improve flexibility. One 16×16 RRA prototype at W-band with each elements individually in control is fabricated at W-band. The beam steering is experimentally demonstrated using a near-field measurement system, showing ±10° beam steering in E-plane and 10° beam steering in H-plane.
