IndoorGML modeling: A case study

A case study of IndoorGML modeling is presented in this paper. IndoorGML allows an XML-based description of indoor environments that can be used regardless of the platform. In addition, IndoorGML models can provide the base for indoor navigation applications. The existing indoor navigation and positioning solutions require a model of the environment. IndoorGML is a standard for indoor spatial information description and it represents the building by predefined XMLSchemas. The building of the Institute of Information Science (IIS) in the University of Miskolc had been chosen to be modeled in this case study. The Miskolc IIS building contains a curved front wall and an atrium lobby, three floors and about 25 rooms per floor. Our model was successfully validated against the XML Schema provided by the Open Geospatial Consortium. The built models can be visualized in the ongoing development of IndoorGML document editor. The model will be used in topology-based classification error calculation method.
