Reproducing the magnetic hysteretic behaviour of an MR squeeze-mode actuator

In the study the authors reproduce the magnetic hysteretic behaviour of an MR squeeze mode (MRSQ) actuator by investigating its current-flux relationship. For this purpose voltage and current measurements were performed. This is demonstrated using a sensorless magnetic flux estimation technique. The authors reveal the response of the actuator when subjected to sinusoidal inputs across a wide range of operating conditions and excitation inputs. The observation of the flux data shows that the hysteresis is influenced by both amplitude and the frequency of the excitation input as well as piston position.
