Usefulness mathematical modeling in the process of assessing the environmental impact of linear energetic constructions

Overground and underground power transmission and distribution lines of 110 kV to 400 kV as linear energy constructions are subject to assessment of their environmental impact. The impact of electromagnetic fields (EMF) must also be assessed in the assessment. The issue of the protection of the health of the population in the Slovak Republic (SR) in connection with exposure to the electromagnetic field is dealt with by Decree of the Ministry of Health no. 534/2007 Col. In accordance with that Decree, scientifically valid standards, procedures and recommendations are used to assess, measure or calculate exposure to the electromagnetic field to determine EMF values. Mathematical modelling is one of the possibilities of objectivizing the levels of electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of power lines, which provides a number of advantages and options for a detailed assessment of their impact from an EMF perspective.
