Development of solar hybrid micro-grid for reliable energy supply

The increasing demand for Electrical energy as well as the steady increase of fuel price has necessitated the focus towards non-conventional sources of energy. This paper presents a solution to reduce the carbon footprint of the utility by utilising both the solar PV source as well as the conventional grid to feed the load. The system uses a centralised DC bus topology in which both the sources supply power in parallel to the inverter which then feeds the load. The various subsystems involved are explained. The system is simulated under varying Solar Insolation conditions and performance parameters like load voltage magnitude, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) have been found to comply with the industrial standards.
