Brazilian and global energy panorama — Comparative study of forecasts in the years 2000 to 2015 for the years 2015 to 2030

Almost 70% of the electricity consumed in the country is supplied by hydroelectric power plants. Since 2013, the country has experienced some droughts, limiting the power capability. To complement the power, thermoelectric generation has been used, which increases the cost to the consumer and the carbon dioxide emission. In order to reduce the carbon emissions, several policies and targets to incentive the renewable sources have been presented. In this paper, a comparative study between the forecasting targets and the real scenario of renewable source installed is performed to analyze if the expected numbers are compatible to the reality. To perform the comparative study, data from countries such as, India, United States, Spain, Portugal and England were also analyzed. The study shows the relevance to install renewable source in the Brazilian electric grid. Furthermore, this paper highlights the Brazil electric market, considering data from power capability and load demand, including all possible power sources.
