Optimization of distribution network topology with genetic algorithms in GIS environment

This work presents a methodology to solve the problem of expansion planning of the electric energy distribution system (PSDEE), using genetic algorithms integrated in an environment using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The objective is to find a plan to expand the electricity distribution system with minimum investment and operating costs subject to physical restrictions. The objective function of the model is equal to the net present value of the costs of building and / or re-conducting circuits, with construction and / or expansion of substations, with annual resistive losses and substation operation. A specialized genetic algorithm was developed, adapted from Chu-Beasley's proposal in conjunction with specialized heuristics integrated with a GIS environment.
