The performance evaluation of intumescent coating in bench-scale tests by using experiments and numerical models

Intumescent fire-retardant coating is one of the most effective methods for passive fire protection in buildings due to the great performance on thermal insulation. In order to better understand the coating performance, two bench-scale-testing platforms were established in this study, and the corresponding three-dimensional models were also developed to improve the understanding of thermal-flow fields in the bench-scale tests, and then help with the design of the test platform.
