Design and analysis of a multiband antenna with L-strips for cellular phone application

The updating technology in mobile devices requires multiple resonant frequencies for various applications in a single antenna. Cellular devices are widely using GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS, Bluetooth and WiMAX technologies. The aim of this paper is to integrate all these applications in a single antenna that covered in a triband operation. To achieve this, asymmetrical L-Strips as slot radiators and defected ground plane are used. The -6dB impedance bandwidth of 111 MHz (849-960 MHz), 960MHz (1.58-2.54 GHz), 150MHz (5.70-5.85 GHz), which covers entire bands of the all the applications. The antenna model is simulated and analyzed in Ansoft HFSS13 software.
