DOA estimation and adaptive beamforming using MATLAB and GUI

In a wireless communication system, the major concern dwells in factors like increasing the capacity of the system, improving the quality of signal and better coverage without increasing the bandwidth of the channel. These requirements can be fulfilled by using a Smart antenna system. Beamforming is a technique which is used in smart antennas for enhanced signal transmission and reception. This paper deals with the MUSIC algorithm for estimating the unknown direction of arrival (DOA) of incoming signals and three adaptive beamforming techniques namely Least Mean Square (LMS), Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) and Recursive Least Square (RLS). These algorithms are simulated in MATLAB and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is created for better analysis.
