PAPR reduction of DWT-OFDM using combined hadamard and companding transform with trellis shaping

In this paper Hadamard and companding Transform is combined with trellis shaping (TS) to reduce peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. Here DWT-OFDM is combined with coded modulation to improve reliability. Bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM) is used with DWT-OFDM to gain good error performance. The evaluation of the peak power reduction capability of the proposed method in terms of complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) is done. Then effectiveness of our system is evaluated through the analysis in terms of bit error rate (BER) and frame error rate (FER) over an additive white Gaussian noise channel. A comparison over the performance of DWT and Fast Fourier transform (FFT) based OFDM is discussed. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method offers better improvement in OFDM performance.
